Design Guide - Online Print service

In this recent project I designed an e-commerce system / Design-Guide for an  online print service. During my development process I did a lot of user research as well as testings to find out common problems users have when ordering printed products.

My Role

I worked on this project during my 6th semester at University in a class focusing on screen and interaction design.

About the project

The task at hand was to pick a website to redesign – I picked an online print service. Throughout the process, I analysed the original design and identified its visual and functional issues. I achieved this by doing user research and letting people test the website’s functionality. Afterwards, I drew up user journeys, personas and scenarios as well as wireframes to really find out what could be improved upon. I ended up creating a step-by-step design guide for the print service that lets users intuitively manage the print settings for their desired product.

Goal | Problem | Solution

My goal was creating a website that allows for different types of experiences simultaneously. Most of the users I asked to test the original website struggled with the misleading process of creating and buying their ideal product. To combat this, I came up with the step-by-step guide to create a more streamlined experience that leads users through the design process.

Neues Logo
  • Graphically, the logo it is based on the look of a sheet of paper.

  • The word “logo” looks cut out and emphasizes the analogue and haptic character of the company’s products.

  • Thus, it combines traditional values of the printing house with modern design and the overall image of the website.

  • The web design is also modern and minimal. The plain paper background and the Ui elements in the style of a business card (see next section) combine modernity and tradition here as well.
